What to Focus On

  • Division is about equal sharing.
  • Dividend ÷ Divisor = Quotient
  • If there's something left, it's called the remainder.

  • Always start from the leftmost digit.
  • If the digit is smaller than the divisor, take two digits together.
  • Follow the steps: Divide, Multiply, Subtract, Bring down (DMSB).

  • If the first digit is smaller than the divisor, take two digits.
  • Use multiplication to help guess the quotient.
  • Always check your answer: (Divisor × Quotient) + Remainder = Dividend

Common Mistakes to Avoid

The smaller number always goes inside the division box (dividend).

You can skip bringing down the next digit if the current number is too small to divide.

Remainder can be larger than the divisor.
