What to Focus On
- Multiplication means repeated addition.
- Multiplicand × Multiplier = Product
- Order does not matter in multiplication: 4 × 3 = 3 × 4
- Always start from the ones place.
- Carry over extra tens to the next higher place.
- Write final answer after adding all carries.
- Multiply by ones first, then by tens.
- When multiplying by tens, add a zero at the end.
- Add both partial products to get the final answer.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Multiplication always makes numbers bigger.
The order of numbers in multiplication does not matter, so I can change them in word problems.
In column multiplication, I only multiply the ones digit and ignore carry-over.
