Understanding Ratio

  • A ratio compares two quantities of the same kind and in the same unit.
  • Ratios are written as a:b or in fraction form a/b.
  • The first term of a ratio is called the antecedent, and the second is the consequent.

  • To simplify a ratio, divide both terms by their HCF.
  • For mixed numbers or decimals, convert to improper fractions first.
