  • If two geometrical figures coincide exactly by placing one over the other, they are congruent.
  • Congruent figures are exactly the same both in shape and size.
  • Two lines are congruent only when they are equal in length.

  • If triangle ABC is placed over triangle DEF and A falls on D, B falls on E, and C falls on F, then the triangles are congruent.
  • In congruent triangles ABC and DEF, corresponding sides are AB-DE, BC-EF, and AC-DF.
  • In congruent triangles ABC and DEF, corresponding angles are A-D, B-E, and C-F.

  • S.S.S. means side, side, side.
  • S.A.S. means side, angle, side.
  • A.S.A. means angle, side, angle.
