1. Construction of Angles

  • An angle congruent to a given angle is copied using the same arc radius at both vertices and then matching the arc distance.
  • An angle can be bisected into two equal parts.
  • A 60° angle is constructed by drawing equal arcs from two points on a line segment.

2. Special Constructions

  • The perpendicular bisector of a line segment cuts the segment into two equal parts at 90°.
  • Every line segment has one and only one perpendicular bisector.
  • To construct a perpendicular to a line at a point on it, first construct 90° at that point.

3. Construction of Triangles

  • A triangle can be constructed when three sides are given, if the sum of any two sides is greater than the third side.
  • A triangle can be constructed when two sides and the included angle are given.
  • A triangle can be constructed when two angles and the included side are given.

4. Isosceles and Equilateral Triangles

  • In an isosceles triangle, the base angles are equal.
  • The vertex angle is the angle between the two equal sides.
  • An isosceles triangle can be constructed when the base and one base angle are given.
