  • An identity gives the same value on the left-hand side and the right-hand side for every valid value of the variable.
  • Special products are multiplications of certain expressions that can be done by a direct or shortcut method.
  • The four special products of two binomials depend on the sign pattern of the terms.

  • Expansion means multiplying an expression with itself to get its second, third, or higher power.
  • The square of a sum has a positive middle term.
