  • A number whose exact square root can be obtained is called a perfect square.
  • 16, 49, 1.21, and 9/16 are perfect squares.
  • Every natural number is not a perfect square. Whole numbers and integers are also not necessarily perfect squares.

  • 484 has square root 22 by prime factorization.
  • 980 must be multiplied by 5 to become a perfect square, and the square root of the new number is 70.
  • 3150 must be divided by 14 to become a perfect square.

  • The division method works for perfect squares and also for non-perfect squares.
  • Digits are grouped in pairs starting from the decimal point.
  • For mixed decimals, group the integral part from right to left and the decimal part from left to right.
