Meaning and Process of Communication
- Communication is a process of sharing facts, ideas, opinions, thoughts and information through speech, writing, gestures or symbols between two or more persons.
- Communication happens when a sender sends a message to a receiver.
- The communication process is complete when the receiver understands the message and gives feedback.
Types of Communication
- Communication can be verbal or non-verbal.
- Verbal communication uses words and includes oral and written communication.
- Oral communication is communication through spoken words, such as lectures, meetings, group discussions, conferences and telephonic conversations.
Means of Communication
- Means of communication are the ways used to send messages when face-to-face contact is not possible.
- Letters are a low-cost written means of communication and help keep a record.
- Telegrams are used for urgent written messages and are charged according to the number of words used, including the address of the receiver and the sender's name.
