  • पिता बाल्ये पुत्राय विद्याधनं महत् यच्छति।
  • पुत्रः पित्रा दत्तं विद्याधनं प्राप्य कृतज्ञतां प्रकटयति।
  • विद्याधनं सर्वेषु धनेषु श्रेष्ठं मन्यते।

द्वितीयः श्लोकः — चित्तवाचोः सरलता

  • चित्ते यथा अवक्रता अस्ति, तथा वाचि अपि भवेत्।
  • चित्तस्य वाचः च समानसरलता महात्मभिः समत्वम् इति कथ्यते।
  • अन्तःकरणे वचने च एकरूपता श्रेष्ठा।

तृतीयः श्लोकः — कठोरा वाणी तथा मूर्खता

  • धर्मप्रदां वाचं त्यक्त्वा यः परुषां वाचं वदति, सः विमूढधीः इति कथ्यते।
  • यः पक्कं फलं त्यक्त्वा अपक्कं फलं भुङ्क्ते, सः मूर्खः इव।
  • अस्य श्लोकस्य मुख्यबोधः वाणीं संयम्य मधुरां धर्मयुक्तां च रखेत् इति।
