  • भूमेः कम्पनं भूकम्पः इति कथ्यते।
  • यः बिन्दुः कम्पनस्य उद्गमः, स उद्गमकेन्द्रम् इति नाम्ना ज्ञायते।
  • कम्पनतरङ्गाः सर्वदिशासु प्रसारिताः भवन्ति, यथा शान्ते सरसि क्षिप्ते पाषाणखण्डे तरङ्गाः प्रसर्पन्ति।

  • भूकम्पस्य प्रथमं कारणं भूगर्भस्थपाषाणशिलानां संघर्षणं त्रुटनं च अस्ति।
  • तस्मात् भीषणं संस्खलनं, संस्खलनजन्यं कम्पनं च जायते।
  • भूकम्पस्य द्वितीयं कारणं ज्वालामुखपर्वतानां विस्फोटः अस्ति।

  • एकस्मिन् वर्षे गणतन्त्रदिवसे गुजराते भूकम्पः अभवत्।
  • तस्मिन् काले भुजनगरं केन्द्रभूतं जातम्।
  • भुजनगरं मृत्तिकाक्रीडनकमिव खण्डखण्डं जातम्।
