1. HCF: Highest Common Factor
- The HCF of two or more numbers is the greatest common factor.
- For the room of 12 ft by 16 ft, the square tile size is 4 ft because 4 is the HCF of 12 and 16.
- Factors of 12 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12.
2. Prime Factorisation and the Division Method
- A prime is a number greater than 1 that has only 1 and the number itself as its factors.
- The prime factorisation of a prime number is the prime number itself.
- Prime factorisation means writing a number as a product of primes.
3. LCM: Lowest Common Multiple
- The LCM of two or more given numbers is the lowest, smallest, or least of their common multiples.
- For 6 cm and 8 cm strips, the shortest common toran length is 24 cm.
- Kabamai gets free gajak again after 70 days because 70 is the LCM of 7 and 10.
4. Patterns, General Statements, and Special Properties
- A statement describing a pattern or property that holds in all possible cases is called a general statement.
- Generalisation is the process of making such a general statement.
- If one number is a factor of another, the HCF of the pair equals the smaller number.
