Sole Proprietorship

  • Sole proprietorship is a form of business ownership owned and controlled by one person.
  • The sole proprietor supplies the capital, manages the business, bears all the risks, and receives all the profits.
  • A sole proprietorship firm has no legal existence separate from its owner.

Partnership

  • Partnership is an association of two or more persons who agree to carry on a lawful business in common with a view to private gain.
  • Partners combine funds and experience to run the business.
  • The persons who enter into partnership are called partners, and the business unit is called a firm.

Private Limited Company

  • A private limited company is a company with a minimum paid-up capital of one lakh rupees or such higher amount as may be prescribed.
  • Promoters can decide the minimum paid-up share capital for private and public companies since it has not been prescribed.
  • A private company restricts the right of members to transfer shares.

Public Limited Company

  • A public company is a company which is not a private company.
  • A public company has a minimum of 7 members and no maximum limit.
  • At least seven persons are required to form a public company.
