What to Focus On
- Standard unit of length is metre (m).
- Standard unit of mass is gram (g).
- Standard unit of capacity is litre (L).
- Use km for long distances, m for medium, cm/mm for small.
- Multiply when going from big to small units.
- Divide when going from small to big units.
- Kilogram is used for heavy objects.
- Gram is the standard unit.
- Milligram is very small, used in medicines.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
1 metre is 100 times bigger than 1 centimetre, so to convert cm to m, I multiply by 100.
Kilogram is the smallest unit of weight, so we can't measure anything lighter than that.
When adding measurements, I can add the numbers directly even if they are in different units.
Memory Tips
Metric prefixes: Kilo, Hecto, Deca, (Unit), Deci, Centi, Milli
1 km = 1000 m
1 m = 100 cm
1 cm = 10 mm
