  • Rupee symbol is ₹ and paise is p.
  • 1 rupee = 100 paise.
  • In figures, use decimal point: ₹25.75.
  • Multiply rupees by 100 to get paise.
  • Remove decimal point and read as paise.
  • ₹1 = 100 paise
  • Divide paise by 100 to get rupees.
  • Place decimal point two digits from the right.
  • 75 paise = ₹0.75

Common Mistakes to Avoid

1 rupee = 10 paise because '1' is bigger than '10' in paise.

To convert paise to rupees, divide by 10, not 100.

₹5.25 is read as 'five rupees twenty-five rupees'.
