All number patterns increase by adding the same number each time.

The nth term of a triangular number pattern is n × n.

The next number in a pattern can be guessed just by looking quickly.

Triangular numbers: 1, 3, 6, 10, 15...

Formula for nth triangular number: Xₙ = n(n+1)/2
