1. Basics of Light, Rays, and Reflection
- Light is electromagnetic radiation of wavelength about 400 nm to 750 nm.
- The accepted value of the speed of light in vacuum is 2.99792458×10^8 m/s, often taken as 3×10^8 m/s.
- The speed of light in vacuum is the highest speed attainable in nature.
2. Refraction, Refractive Index, and Apparent Depth
- Refraction is the change in direction of light when it passes from one transparent medium to another.

3. Total Internal Reflection and Optical Fibre

4. Refraction at Lenses and Lens Maker’s Formula

- A convex lens is a converging lens and has positive power.
- A concave lens is a diverging lens and has negative power.
