1. Basic Concepts: Force and Motion
- Mechanics is the branch of physics that deals with the effect of force on bodies.
- Statics deals with bodies at rest under forces. Dynamics deals with moving bodies under forces.

2. Inertia and Its Types
- Inertia is the inherent property of a body to resist any change in its state of rest or uniform motion.
- Inertia does NOT mean a body cannot move — it means a body RESISTS change.
- Mass is the measure of inertia. Greater mass = Greater inertia.

3. Linear Momentum
- Linear momentum measures the impact of a force on a body.
- It is the product of mass and velocity of a moving body.
- Linear momentum is a VECTOR quantity — it acts in the direction of velocity.

4. Newton's Three Laws of Motion
- FIRST LAW (Law of Inertia): Every body continues in its state of rest or uniform motion in a straight line unless acted upon by an external unbalanced force.
- First Law gives definitions of both FORCE and INERTIA.
- SECOND LAW (Law of Force): Force acting on a body is directly proportional to the rate of change of linear momentum, in the direction of the force.
