7. Meiosis I and Crossing Over

  • In a diploid cell, chromosomes are paired, with half from the male parent and half from the female parent.
  • Homologous chromosomes are similar in shape, size, structure, and carry similar characters.
  • Homologous chromosomes come together and arrange in pairs lengthwise. This process is synapsis.
