  • Permanent tissues are formed from meristematic tissues after cells lose the power of division.

Ground Tissue System, Root Anatomy and Stem Anatomy

  • The fundamental or ground tissue system forms the main bulk of the plant body and extends from below the epidermis to the centre excluding vascular bundles.
  • In roots and dicot stems, ground tissue outside the vascular cylinder is extrastelar, while the tissue inside is intrastelar.
  • Ground tissue regions include cortex, pericycle, pith and medullary rays.
