1969

ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) was established on August 15, 1969. It was formed to develop space technology and its application for national development. Dr. Vikram Sarabhai was the first Chairman of ISRO. The organization's headquarters is located in Bengaluru, and it has achieved remarkable success in satellite launches and space missions.

Gorakhpur

Gorakhpur district in Uttar Pradesh is called the 'Java of India' because it has the maximum number of sugar mills in the country. Java island in Indonesia was historically known for sugar production, hence the comparison. Gorakhpur's fertile soil, favorable climate, and extensive sugarcane cultivation make it the hub of sugar production in India.

1840

The first paper industry in India was established in 1840 at Serampur, West Bengal, on the banks of river Hooghly. This marked the beginning of India's modern paper manufacturing industry. Later in 1867, another paper factory was started in Bally near Kolkata. The location near river Hooghly provided easy access to water, which is essential for paper production.

Aluminium

The aluminium industry depends mainly on bauxite as its primary raw material. Bauxite is an ore from which aluminium is extracted through a complex process. The aluminium industry also requires abundant electricity supply and other minerals. India has significant bauxite deposits in states like Odisha, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh, which support the aluminium industry.
