September 1, 1939

World War II began on September 1, 1939, when Nazi Germany declared war against Poland and invaded the country. This marked the start of the most destructive war in human history. Britain and France declared war on Germany two days later on September 3, 1939, but the actual fighting began with Germany's attack on Poland on September 1st.

Holocaust

The Holocaust was the systematic mass murder program carried out by Hitler's Nazi regime. An estimated 6 million Jews and over 10 million other civilians were killed through gas chambers, concentration camps, and mass executions. The term 'Holocaust' specifically refers to this genocide. Blitzkrieg was a military strategy, Operation Barbarossa was the invasion of Soviet Union, and Final Solution was the Nazi plan for Jewish extermination but Holocaust is the broader term for the entire genocide.

Benito Mussolini

Benito Mussolini was the Italian dictator who founded the National Fascist Party and allied with Hitler during World War II. He was Prime Minister of Italy from 1922-1943 and established a fascist dictatorship in 1925. Mussolini joined the Axis powers alongside Germany and Japan. Victor Emmanuel was the Italian king, while Garibaldi and Cavour were 19th-century Italian unification leaders, not World War II figures.

About 1.5 million Indian soldiers participated in World War I, fighting for the British Empire. This was a massive contribution to the war effort, and Indian troops fought bravely on various fronts including Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Along with soldiers, India also provided financial support, animals, weapons, and raw materials to Britain during the war.
