- The word entrepreneur comes from the French word entreprendre, meaning to undertake.
- An entrepreneur undertakes an activity by seeing a business opportunity.
- An entrepreneur organises the resources needed to start an enterprise and bears the risk involved.
Startup and Sources of Funding
- Startups must be recognised under G.S.R. notification 127(E) dated 16 January 2019.
- A startup should have turnover less than INR 100 crores in any of the previous financial years.
- An entity is considered a startup up to 10 years from the date of incorporation.
Entrepreneurship in Biotechnology
- Biotechnology entrepreneurship combines science and business.
- Biotechnology uses living organisms or parts of living organisms through biological processing to develop new products or methods of production.
- Bio-entrepreneurship means creating value from life science innovation.
