  • They grow over the Sahyadris, the north-eastern parts of the Peninsula, the middle and lower Ganga valley, and along the foothills of the Himalayas in the Shiwaliks, the bhabar, and the tarai.
  • Important trees are sal, teak, shisham, sandalwood, and khair.
