  • A pattern is a repeated arrangement of shapes, numbers, letters, or designs following a rule.
  • There are three main types: Number Patterns, Geometrical Patterns, and Letter Patterns.
  • Number patterns follow mathematical rules like adding or multiplying.

2. Triangular Number Patterns

  • Triangular numbers are formed by arranging dots in the shape of a triangle.
  • Each row has one more dot than the row above.
  • The total number of dots is the sum of natural numbers from 1 to n.

3. Square Number Patterns

  • Square numbers are formed by arranging dots in a square grid.
  • Each side of the square has the same number of dots.
  • The total number of dots is the square of the number of dots per side.

4. Growing and Reducing Patterns

  • Growing patterns increase by a fixed amount each time (e.g., +5, +10).
  • Reducing patterns decrease by a fixed amount (e.g., -3, -7).
  • Rules can be found by subtracting consecutive terms.
