Topics in Time
Units of Time and Conversions
- Time is measured in seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years.
- 1 minute = 60 seconds
- 1 hour = 60 minutes
12-Hour and 24-Hour Clock
- a.m. means from 12 midnight to 12 noon.
- p.m. means from 12 noon to 12 midnight.
- 12 midnight = 00:00 hours, 12 noon = 12:00 hours
Addition and Subtraction of Time
- Add or subtract hours, minutes, and seconds separately.
- If seconds exceed 60, convert 60 seconds to 1 minute.
- If minutes exceed 60, convert 60 minutes to 1 hour.
Reading Timetables
- Timetables show departure and arrival times of trains, buses, etc.
- Always check the direction of travel (from and to).
- Look for 'd' (departure) and 'a' (arrival) in railway timetables.
