1. Factors and Multiples

  • A factor of a number divides it exactly without leaving a remainder.
  • Every number is a factor of itself and 1 is a factor of every number.
  • Multiples are found by multiplying a number with whole numbers (1, 2, 3...).

2. Prime and Composite Numbers

  • Prime numbers have exactly two factors: 1 and the number itself.
  • 2 is the only even prime number.
  • Composite numbers have more than two factors.

3. Co-prime and Twin Prime Numbers

  • Co-prime numbers have only 1 as a common factor.
  • Two prime numbers are always co-prime.
  • Consecutive numbers are always co-prime.

4. HCF (Highest Common Factor)

  • HCF is the largest number that divides two or more numbers exactly.
  • Can be found by listing common factors or using prime factorization.
  • Division method is best for large numbers.
