A unit is a quantity of constant magnitude used to measure magnitudes of other quantities of the same nature.

Physical quantity = numerical value × unit. The numerical value shows how many times the unit is contained in the quantity.
What are fundamental units and derived units?
Answer
Fundamental units are independent of other units. Derived units depend on fundamental units and can be expressed in terms of them. Examples of fundamental units are metre, kilogram, and second.
