- Reproduction is of two main types: asexual reproduction and sexual reproduction.
- Asexual reproduction involves only one parent and produces genetically identical individuals.

3. Budding and Spore Formation
- In yeast, small round outgrowths called buds emerge from the parent cell.
- In hydra, repeated cell division at a specific site forms a bud that enlarges and separates.

4. Sexual Reproduction and Meiosis
- Sexual reproduction involves two parents in the formation of a new individual.
- If chromosome number were not reduced, it would double in every generation.
- This biological problem is solved by meiosis.
