  • q cannot be 0.
  • Standard form needs a positive denominator.

  • Left side shows negative numbers.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Any fraction with integers in the numerator and denominator is a rational number, even if the numerator and denominator are not co-prime.

Zero is a positive rational number because it is not negative.

A rational number must always have positive numerator and denominator.
