  • An industry established by spending a minimum of Rs. 25 lakh on plants and machinery is a small scale industry.
  • Small scale industries generally use labour-intensive technology.
  • Large scale industries need huge investment, occupy more land, and use capital-intensive technology.

4. Role of the Tertiary Sector

  • The service sector is the tertiary sector.
  • Service sector contributed 55.20 out of 100 to national income in 2009-10.
  • Service sector absorbed 29.4 percent of total employment in 2009-10.
