Assam

Step 1: India is the leading tea-producing country in the world with several major tea-growing regions. Step 2: Assam is the leading producer that accounts for more than 50% of tea production in India. Step 3: Tea-producing areas in Assam are located on hill slopes bordering the Brahmaputra and Surma valleys. Step 4: West Bengal (especially Darjeeling) is the second-largest producer, while Tamil Nadu (Nilgiri hills) is the third-largest. Step 5: The favorable climate and soil conditions in Assam make it ideal for tea cultivation.

Black soil

Step 1: Cotton cultivation has specific soil requirements for optimal growth and fiber quality. Step 2: Cotton cultivation is very closely related to black soils of the Deccan and Malwa plateau. Step 3: Black soils are rich in lime, iron, magnesia, and potash, making them ideal for cotton growth. Step 4: These soils retain moisture well and provide nutrients needed for cotton development. Step 5: While cotton can also grow in alluvial and red soils, black soil remains the most preferred and productive soil type for cotton cultivation.

White Revolution

Step 1: India has experienced several agricultural revolutions targeting different sectors. Step 2: The White Revolution specifically refers to the remarkable increase in milk production and establishment of a national milk grid. Step 3: This revolution involved crossbreeding of indigenous cows with high milk-yielding European breeds. Step 4: It also included pasteurization of milk, quality collection from rural areas, and refrigerated transport systems. Step 5: The Green Revolution was for food grains, Blue Revolution for fisheries, and Yellow Revolution for poultry products.

Dry land crops

Step 1: Millets are coarse grain crops that have specific climatic and soil requirements. Step 2: Millets are known as 'dry land crops' because they can grow in areas with limited rainfall (50-100 cm). Step 3: They are climate-resistant crops that can tolerate drought conditions better than rice or wheat. Step 4: Millets can grow in inferior soils and are less sensitive to soil deficiencies. Step 5: This makes them suitable for cultivation in arid and semi-arid regions where other crops might fail.
