  • For example, (1/3):(1/4) becomes 4:3 after multiplying both terms by 12.
3

3. Ratio Problems Using L.C.M., H.C.F., and Unitary Method

  • If two numbers are in the ratio 4:5, they can be written as 4x and 5x.
  • The L.C.M. of 4x and 5x is 20x.
  • If two numbers are in the ratio 3:4, their H.C.F. is x when the numbers are 3x and 4x.
4

4. Proportion, Extremes, Means, and Fourth Proportional
