Advantages of pipeline transportation: It is a very convenient and efficient way to transport liquids and gases over long distances. It is also useful for transporting solids after converting them into slurry. It is economical, fuel-efficient and needs less handling.

Disadvantages: Pipelines are suitable only for specific materials like oil and gas, so they cannot carry all kinds of goods. They are costly to lay and are not flexible like road transport, so routes cannot be changed easily.
