1. Nutrition and Photosynthesis

2. Human Nutrition and Digestion

  • The food we eat must be broken into simpler forms before body cells can use it.

3. Transportation in Plants and Humans

  • Transportation helps distribute food and oxygen to all parts of the body and remove wastes.
  • In plants, xylem transports water and minerals from roots to leaves.
  • Xylem tracheids and vessels are non-living conducting cells.

4. Respiration and Breathing

  • Breathing is the physical process of respiratory gaseous exchange between the organism and the environment by diffusion.
  • Respiration is different from breathing.
  • Respiration involves oxidation of food and release of energy in cells.
