Distribution and Density of Population

Density of population = Number of people in a defined area unit / Total area in square km of that particular area

Density of Population = 250000 persons / 1000 sq km area = 250 persons per sq km

Population Change and Growth

Birth Rate = (No. of live births in a year under an area / Mid-year population of that area) × 1000

Birth Rate = 800/25,000 × 1000 = 32 per thousand of population

Death Rate = (No. of deaths in a year under an area / Mid-year population of that area) × 1000

Death Rate = 600/25,000 × 1000 = 24 per thousand of population

Natural growth rate = birth rate - death rate
