  • Neritic Province has a depth of 200 metres and is the most populated marine area.
  • Neritic Province has shallow depth, low salinity, less turbulent motion, and more plant nutrients.
  • Neritic Province receives most of the sunlight and is the natural habitat of fish.

  • The benthic realm is divided into Littoral Zone and Deep Sea Zone.
  • Littoral Zone is characterised by high and low tide levels.
  • Littoral Zone has plenty of animal food.

  • Marine plants and animals are classified into three categories: plankton, benthos, and nekton.
  • Plankton are minute plant and animal organisms that float or drift in ocean water.
  • Phytoplankton are plant plankton.
