1. Basic Geometric Ideas

  • A point shows location and is represented by capital letters such as A, B, and C.
  • A line extends infinitely on both sides and can be named using two points on it or by a small letter such as l or m.
  • A line segment is the finite part between two points and is the shortest path between those two points.

  • An angle is formed by two rays starting from a common point called the vertex.
  • Angles are named using three letters, with the vertex in the middle, such as angle AOB.
  • Angles are measured in degrees.

  • Adjacent angles share a common vertex and a common side.
  • Complementary angles add up to 90 degrees.
  • Supplementary angles add up to 180 degrees.
