Reactions of Amines

  • Primary amines react with nitrous acid (HNO₂) to form diazonium salts (aromatic) or alcohols (aliphatic).
  • Diazotization occurs at low temperature (273–278 K).
  • Aniline undergoes electrophilic substitution easily due to activation by -NH₂ group.
