व्याकरणे सन्धिः वर्णविकारः। सन्धिः वर्णविधिः अपि भवति। पदयोः एकपदे वा वर्णयोः परस्परव्यवधानरहितसामीप्ये यः परिवर्तनः भवति, सः सन्धिः इति कथ्यते। सन्धिः भाषां प्रवाहमयीं सुन्दरां च करोति। मुख्यतया सन्धेः त्रयः भेदाः सन्ति—स्वरसन्धिः, व्यञ्जनसन्धिः, विसर्गसन्धिः।

व्याकरणे सन्धिः वर्णविकारः। दो पदों या एकस्मिन् पदे वर्णयोः समीप्ये परिवर्तनं सन्धिः इति उच्यते।

द्वयोः स्वरवर्णयोः अत्यन्तसमीप्ये यः वर्णविकारः भवति

द्वयोः स्वरवर्णयोः अत्यन्तसमीप्ये यः वर्णविकारः भवति, सः स्वरसन्धिः।

ह्रस्व वा दीर्घ अ

ह्रस्व वा दीर्घ अ, इ, उ तथा ऋ स्वरेभ्यः परं स्वसमानस्वरः आगच्छति चेत् क्रमशः आ, ई, ऊ, ऋ भवति।

अ वा आ इत्यनयोः पश्चात् इ

अ वा आ इत्यनयोः पश्चात् इ वा ई आगते ए, उ वा ऊ आगते ओ, ऋ आगते अर् इत्येकादेशः भवति।

अ वा आ इत्यनयोः पश्चात् ए

अ वा आ इत्यनयोः पश्चात् ए वा ऐ आगते ऐ, ओ वा औ आगते औ एकादेशः भवति।
